Florian is an experienced excellent couch. The rowing facility is clean and adheres to all the COVID protocols. The water is wide and flat. Highly recommended this site for a fantastic rowing experience.

STAR Rowing LLC is a new kid on the block of rowing, but do not be fooled.The coaching of Florian Tudor and Dorina Tudor, the Romanian couple who coached in the US for many years and before that earned a swag of medals Internationally in regattas, Nationals and Worlds is amazing!

I highly recommend trying out Star Rowing Center on Lake Housatonic (Rt. 34 in Derby)! My son loves working with these coaches and kids and has really found a home in this sport. The coaches (former Olympic rowers) are caring and have the perfect combination of kindness and motivation. They start with learn to row programs for 5th grade up through adulthood and then work up to competitive high school and adult rowing. We tried other rowing companies but this one is something special!

Coach Florian is a dedicated and motivating rowing coach. My middle school son has shown interest in many sports, but his experience in learning to row is the only sport where he has a smile on his face after every single practice. Coach Florian encourages and challenges my son to do the best he can, all while infusing their sessions with a sense of humor. Coach's love of rowing is clear, and we are lucky to have him teaching in such close proximity to where we live. This is definitely a hidden gem in Derby, and we would highly recommend Star Rowing Center to anyone.

I’m a rowing novice and really appreciated the excellent private lesson from Coach Florian. I have a much better understanding of correct form and he provided a series of drills that will help me maintain good form as I practice. The location is great and the facility is well maintained. Highly recommend this rowing center for rowers of all experience levels.
